So, we already addressed what holistic health means, and the start of my own medicinal herb garden. Now I’d like to address exactly why I choose to grow my own herbs whenever I can, instead of just purchasing herbs from other sources. Right up front, my hope is to plant a seed (pardon the pun) in everyone who reads this. I want people to be curious. I want them to research, question and evaluate. I want them to want to do this, too!

Garden Fresh

I think that people who don’t garden tend to have a very idealistic view of what it must be like. Zen hours in a beautifully manicured cottage garden, surrounded by perfectly robust plants, just dripping in fresh produce. Nary a critter or weed to be seen. Beautiful, golden rays caressing your shoulders in warmth and gentle light. Cue the lounge chair and the obligatory margarita.

The Beginnings of a Medicinal Herb Garden

I’ve been using herbs medicinally in varying forms for several years now. I primarily rely on medicinal tinctures and teas, though I occasionally use a few other forms of herbal remedies. If you’ve ever looked into buying these things, you likely know they can put a dent in your wallet in a hurry. Ergo, my husband and I decided to install a new garden bed solely for medicinal herbs.
